Most patients with cancer will need to see a surgeon for
diagnosis or treatment. When you need a surgical opinion or
operation, it should be a priority for you to find a surgeon
with years of experience in managing cancer cases, who also
has the specific knowledge, the technical surgical skills,
and the compassion to guide you through this stressful time.
Timely and effective guidance can make a difference in a
patient's prognosis and recovery. Drs. Richard Orr, Barry
Hird, and Christophe Nguyen are fellowship-trained surgical
oncologists with years of experience in the management of
breast disease, thyroid and parathyroid disease, lung
cancer, melanoma, and other complex cancer cases. They are
the only three surgeons in the Upstate who have completed Society of Surgical
Oncologyapproved fellowships and are credentialed
by the
MD Anderson Network through the Gibbs Cancer
Center. Each surgeon specializes in a relatively
narrow area which allows him to be able to devote the time
and expertise to you as an individual - always treating you
with dignity, compassion, and courtesy.
